Highlights tour of Glasnevin Cemetery
Our tour guide, Shaun Meally, welcomed our group to the “highlights” tour of Glasnevin Cemetery. Shaun was an excellent guide and he was a font of knowledge. He told us about the history of the cemetery with both humour and gravitas as befitted the occasion. We heard vivid stories of the remarkable figures who shaped Ireland’s past. It was a most informative and enjoyable experience.

Daniel O’Connell
At the start of the tour we visited the ornate crypt of Daniel O’Connell, legendary statesman and founder of Glasnevin Cemetery.

Group Photo
Our guide Shaun Meally joined our group photo as our 1.5 hour tour concluded.

On reflection, we have no hesitation in recommending this tour to anyone interested in Irish history or even to undertake a pleasant stroll through the resting places of the many famous and maybe not so famous people interred within the walls of Glasnevin Cemetery.
Lunch at the Gravediggers Pub
After the guided tour ended our group enjoyed the short walk from Glasnevin Cemetery to John Kavanagh’s Gravediggers Pub at 1, Prospect Square, where we enjoyed a tasty lunch and took time to chat about what we saw and heard during the cemetery tour.
