Annual General Meeting of the Laois Association in Dublin
14th December 2024
The Laois Association Dublin held it’s AGM on Saturday December 14th, 2024, in The Teachers’ Club, Dublin. In the course of the AGM, the Association reviewed the preceding year, which was the 75th Anniversary of the Association. All agreed that the year had been a great success.
The election of officers for 2025 followed. The elected officers of the Association for 2025 are:
- President: Sandy Metcalfe
- Vice President: Mary Doyle
- Chairman: Gerry Thompson
- Vice Chairman: Vincent Rafter
- Secretary: Eugene Donoghue
- Treasurers: Michael Cushion and Peggy Cushion
- PRO: Rory Campion
- Membership Officer: Mary Doyle
- GDPR Officer: Eugene Donoghue
- Committee: Mary Anne Halton, Dorothy Murphy, Joe Dowling, Paul Halton and Jimmy Finn.
After the election of the officers both the Chairman and President paid tribute to outgoing treasurers Margaret Kennedy and Carmel Campion. The AGM was followed by a poignant memorial service for deceased members and loved ones of members. On the day the Association lovingly remembered Frank Bergin, Michael Campion and Deirdre O’Connell sister of Betty Wilson. The service was conducted by Father James Daly.
The Service was followed by Christmas Lunch and entertainment was provided by our own Sandy Metcalfe with members joining in along the way.
Membership is always open and new members are always welcome, signified by the Association’s motto “There is a chance of meeting old friends and a certainty of meeting new friends.”
